Tom J. Schoettle, Jr., JD, CFP, CFA

Tom is a Certified Financial Planner (CFP), a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), and an attorney. He graduated from the University of Virginia School of Law, which is ranked among the nation's top ten law schools and has educated many of the country's finest legal minds. He practiced corporate and bankruptcy law with Luce, Forward, Hamilton & Scripps and Baker & McKenzie.

Tom graduated with distinction from Indiana University with a B.S. degree in Accounting. He holds the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) Series 7 registration and Series 63 registration. Tom has used his unique experience to develop a practice specializing in estate and retirement planning that minimizes the impact of taxes.

Tom has been a featured speaker and instructor on numerous financial planning and investment topics throughout Southern California, including teaching courses for Mesa College, Palomar College and the Catholic Diocese of San Diego. He is the author of the article California's View of ERISA Benefits in Bankruptcy, and is an active member of the California Bar Association.

Tom is the past president of the San Diego Financial Lawyers Group. He is an active member of his church and has given to his community as an instructor of successful money management courses, as a member of the UCSD Planned Giving Executives Committee, and as a mediator for the San Diego Community Mediation Program. He served as the Treasurer and as a member of the Board of Directors of the San Diego Interfaith Housing Foundation, an affordable housing foundation. Tom served as the Vice President of the Pacific Youth Soccer League (2004-2015) and President (2018-2020) while also managing field use and referees for the league.

Thomas J. Schoettle, III

Thomas serves as an associate at Schoettle Financial. He graduated from the University of Southern California, with a degree in Business Administration. Prior to joining Schoettle Financial he worked as a buyer at General Atomics in San Diego for four years. He currently holds FINRA Series 7 and Series 66 registrations for securities trading. Thomas is a registered representative with Cetera Advisor Networks.  

Nick C. Schoettle, CFA

Nick serves as an associate at Schoettle Financial. He earned a degree in Economics from University of California, Berkeley. Prior to joining Schoettle Financial, he worked as an Investment Associate at Mosaic LLC for two years. He also worked with Payden & Rygel and Parkside Advisors while pursuing his degree. Nick is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and holds his FINRA Series 7 registration and Series 66 registrations. He is a registered representative with Cetera Advisor Networks.

Kim C. Schoettle

Kim brings her expertise in business and marketing to the administration of Schoettle Financial. She has a B.S. in Business from Indiana University and an M.A. in Urban Planning from San Diego State University. She oversees account setup and maintenance, finances, communications, management, marketing, and compliance requirements for the firm.   

Previous experience includes working as an Environmental Analyst for SDG&E, a Proposal Writer for RECON, and an intern for the City of San Diego Architect’s Office. She also worked as an Auditor for the State of Indiana Department of Commerce Block Grant program prior to moving to San Diego. Kim served as the president of the Friends of Pacific Beach Secondary Schools for three years. She was appointed to and served for 6 years for the  Independent Citizens Oversight Committee for Proposition S/Z bonds totalling $5 billion, and was also appointed to the Excess School Property Advisory Committee for the San Diego Unified School District, serving 5 years. Kim served for several years on the Pacific Beach Community Planning Committee and she is active with the local community and church.
